Safety: Class Guidelines During Covid-19

In addition to our Terms and Conditions – this is a supplementary document of guidelines for managing our sessions during face to face dance, under current COVID-19 guidelines.

This is based on conversations with our association (IDTA), insurers, and based on government guidelines. We appreciate there may be different rules for different clubs or events you attend but ask you familiarise yourself with these guidelines for our classes.

  1. Do not attend classes if your child is displaying any symptoms of COVID – including but not restricted to a new persistent cough, loss of taste or smell, high temperature.

  2. Classes will run on their strict timetabled times – starting on the hour and running for 45 minutes (except for our joint Inters Tap and Drama session on Monday which runs for 90 minutes).

  3. Students must be dropped off on time and collected at the time the class finished to allow us to clean the studio before the next group attend

  4. Should you be running late to collect – it is important that you let us know – as signal is not brilliant in the studio a text/WhatsApp to our business phone (07969125975) would be preferred. If there is an issue you need to speak to someone – please call the Sports Centre directly who can pass the message to me – their number is 07592 363 131.

  5. Students should only bring the absolute basics to class – what they need to wear for dance, any appropriate outdoor wear, a drink in their own water bottle. To ensure everyone’s safety – no food will be permitted during sessions or in the studio. Please do not bring toys, games, where possible school bags etc into our studio.

  6. We have marked out the floor into safe boxes for students to dance in and to take their drink to for use during the sessions. At the moment, we are unable to do across the floor work. If this is an area your child really wants to work on – speak to me and we can arrange some ideas to do at home.

  7. Please ensure that your child has gone to the toilet before the session to minimise movement across other dancers’ spaces.

  8. Please sanitise your hands at the station as you enter the sports centre and wear a mask on entering.

  9. Ideally if your child has their own please send them with their small own hand sanitiser to use.

  10. Please note there may be restrictions on where to enter and exit the building – please follow guidelines around the sports centre.

  11. While we know some children have been in contact or bubbles with each other, during classes, with love, we are asking them to refrain from hugging etc to comply with guidelines set as above.

  12. Please make any payments online so we can minimise contamination through cash or cheques or envelopes if possible.

  13. Communications will be BY EMAIL – unless you have advised this is not possible for you.

  14. Please inform us as soon as possible should your child show symptoms of COVID, you know you have come in contact and have gone into isolation since a class or you are asked to by a track and trace. We will never reveal a student name, but we would be required to inform that class/es that there has been a report.

  15. Should your child become unwell during class – we will contact you straight away to come and collect your child.

  16. Should your child require first aid – this will be carried out wearing appropriate gloves, mask, apron, using sanitiser, sanitised first aid equipment and resources, and of course contact you asap. Should you NOT want us to administer First Aid please let me know.

  17. At present we will not have heaters on in the studio, extraction air units may be use or the door may be open for air circulation. Please send your child in one or two (or if they are like me more) thin layers that can be added to or taken off if they get too cool or warm. A couple of t-shirts, thin fleece, ballet cardigans, leggings, hat, gloves etc. Nothing too loose or baggy, no scarves or things that dangle, ideally no big jumpers or sweaters that mean it’s either too hot or too cool, and that would prevent us seeing their line of dance or prevent ease of safe movement.

I know this is a lot to take in, but for us to stay safe, comply with our insurers and guidelines, this is our current situation. We will update and hopefully reduce restrictions as soon as we are able.
